A Denver-only visit may not need a rental car at all. A trip that includes Breckenridge, Estes Park or multiple regional attractions is more flexible with a vehicle.

Choose the smallest vehicle that comfortably fits the passengers and luggage while meeting the conditions expected on the most demanding road.

Ask specific winter questions

Do not rely on labels such as SUV or all-wheel drive. Ask what tires are installed, inspect the tread at pickup and review Colorado’s current traction requirements.

If a major storm is forecast and the car is not ready for the conditions, change your route or timing. A rental car is never a guarantee that a mountain road will be safe.
